2025 Reading Challenge: How To Set Realistic Goals

Posted on March 7, 2025March 7, 2025 by admin

Starting a 2025 reading challenge can be life changing, for both new and seasoned readers. It’s a way to make reading a little more fun and challenge yourself to read more and new things! Here are just a few ways to spice up your reading challenges and/or where to start with setting a reading goal for yourself.

When setting a goal for a reading challenge, it’s always good to reflect on how much you read normally. And how much you want to read in the future.

1. Daily Goal: Read Every Day

Giving yourself a set amount of time or pages to read every day can make a huge difference, getting you on track to succeed at your reading challenges. It can count as a reading challenge if you think about it. Giving yourself the goal of reading “20 pages a day” or “For one hour a day” is a huge accomplishment, especially if you find yourself busy with your go go go life and want to get yourself established with a micro goal like this before setting monthly or yearly goals.

2. Monthly Goal: Hack To Read X Amount Of Books A Month

A goal based on the number of books you want to read per month can be the step up from how much you read in a day. Next, you can have an idea at this point for hw much you’d like to read every month. You can start making reading challenges such as “Reading 3 books a month”

Note: a good way to manage your monthly reading goal precisely is a quick math problem that is so easy and precise. An example is as follows…

***Caraval by Stephanie Garber is a 401 page book. If you’re trying to read 4 books a month, you’d have to read this book in one week. 7 (days) divided by 401 (number of pages) come out to about 57 pages per day. You can alter the days and pages based on your specific goal and different books!***

3. Yearly Goal

Once you’ve gotten the hang of daily and weekly reading goals, you’re already there with your yearly goals! Your reading challenges will be more like “Read 12 books this year” or “Read 5 romance books and 5 thrillers.” You can make them as specific as you want and have fun with it!

A huge tip for keeping track of the books you’ve read is using reading apps to remind you to read. You can enter your reading goals into the Fable app and create a widget on your home screen to remind you to mark down that you’ve read every day and what book it was. Once you’ve finished a book, you can rate it and write a review for it, which is very helpful for the authors!

The Fable app also has a book club feature, where you can join or create book clubs with fellow readers and friends. This is an amazing way to become even more involved in the reading community and is very beneficial to keeping on top of your reading challenges and goals!

4. Get Creative!!

Finally, once you have a firm foundation for your reading goals and habits, GET CREATIVE!! Once you’ve got the basic science of it all down, there are plenty of ways to spice up your reading challenges. From reading different genres and authors “10 books with red covers” or “5 books with flowers on the front,” it may sound silly to some, but it’s YOUR reading journey, and you can read anything you want!

I hope you all enjoyed these tips, comment down below what reading challenges you’ll be using yourself!
